One Week in Myrtle Beach, SC
Our first family trip of the year! After a week’s worth of planning, we packed the car and headed to Myrtle Beach, SC with two toddlers to enjoy some much needed time on the beach. If you’re a Tesla owner, you’ll be excited to know that there are plenty of superchargers on the way conveniently located at strip malls or gas stations. We timed our charging stops to allow for breaks every two hours to charge the car, stretch our legs, and grab small meals.
Where to Stay
We booked a two bedroom, two bathroom condo at the Myrtle Beach Resort on S. Kings Highway with ocean view. The condo was fully equipped with a kitchen, living room, balcony, and TVs in all rooms. The master bedroom had a king size bed with a private bathroom. The second room had two twin beds, with a full bathroom immediately outside the bedroom. Myrtle Beach Resort is conveniently located on the beach with a restaurant, deli, bar, and waterpark. The Resort also offers a lazy river. However, we stayed away from the waterpark, pools, and lazy river out of caution due to COVID-19. The rooms were dated and small but provided the comfort we needed after a 10 hour long drive, and the full day spent at the beach. Every night, we enjoyed a fireworks show from the balcony from approximately 9:45-10:30. A beautiful way to end the night while braving the cool breeze and taking in the moonlight.
What to Do
Myrtle Beach boardwalk! Typical boardwalk alongside the beach with souvenir shops, bars, and restaurants. Perfect place to purchase over-priced goodies.
Pier - although you have to pay $1 per person to walk through to the pier, it’s well worth it for great views of the waves crashing on the shore and pictures
Amusement Park - more like a carnival with rides. We did not go because we saw many people without masks and it was crowded. However, when times get better, it’s worth a visit
Where to Eat
Breakfast: The hotel offers your basic breakfast foods at the deli for purchase in The Tower. However, if you’re in the mood for a short drive, head over to Johnny D’s Waffles and Benedicts. Their crab cake eggs benedict is finger licking delicious, with extremely fancy waffles.
Lunch: We kept it simple and cooked a late lunch at the condo to avoid close contact with diners at restaurants.
Dinner: With many options around the town, I highly recommend taking a drive to Merril’s Inlet for the different food options. We enjoyed dinner at Wicked Tuna with outdoor seating next to a dock and fireworks once it was dark enough. Service was impecable and food even better.
