Stay at Belhurst Castle - Geneva, NY (Finger Lakes Wine Region)
Belhurst Castle…where history and love come together to create an unforgettable, mesmerizing experience, leaving the visitor not wanting to leave…Immediately upon walking through the front doors, you step back in time with the original architecture of the castle still in tact. Each room with its own history!
Pepe’s birthday trip this year was not in a tropical area as usual. Instead, after months of researching for the perfect week long getaway, I decided on Belhurst Castle and Winery in Geneva, NY. Nestled in the north end of Seneca Lake, Belhurst is full of wonders. This was by far, one of our favorite trips even though the weather was cold. Afterall, it’s expected in Upstate NY during the end of March/beginning of April.
Check-in:
Such a breeze! Upon check-in, we were handed two keys - one for the room, and one for the wine spigot that is available only to the Castle guests from 11am-11pm. The keys are not your typical electronic key cards. These are old school keys, almost as if they’re original from the time period. We were also provided with a complimentary wine tasting for two in the winery’s tasting room, located adjacent to the Castle’s entry.
Bronze room:
Our initial booking started off with a stay in the Dwyer Suite but when we decided to extend our stay by two days, we had to change our booking to the Bronze Room due to the Dwyer Suite already being booked for Friday night. Nevertheless, Bronze Room was an amazing surprise. Located on the second floor, room 104 - Bronze Room - has three large windows providing an unobstructed view of Seneca Lake, back gardens, and Stonecutter’s firepit sitting area. Sunrises from this room are breathtaking so be sure to wake up early to lift your blinds….or do what we did, leave them open to wake up with the sun!
The room offers original architecture and woodwork, gas fireplace, a small closet, full bathroom with a lakeview window, and a queen bed. Across the hall from the room is a wine spigot…yes, you read that right! Red wine pouring from a faucet. It’s available only to castle guests from 11am-11pm. Definitely a cute touch!
Dinning:
Belhurst offers two dinning options: Stonecutter’s Tavern and Edgars. We had the pleasure of experiencing both!
Stonecutter’s is a casual lunch and dinner restaurant with views of the lake. Edgar’s is more dressy, open for dinner and food/wine pairing. Reservations strongly encouraged for Edgar’s!
When we come back to FLX in the near future, I’m sure we would love to spend more time at the Castle…hopefully during a warmer month!
