For the Love of Vintage Cars in Cuba!

For the Love of Vintage Cars in Cuba!

“Oh my God check this one out!…and this one, what an awesome color!… One sec, I HAVE to take a pic of this one and that one and this and that….. “

Let’s just say we couldn’t get enough of the most beautifully maintained pre-revolution 1950’s vintage American cars. Gorgeous curves, long lines and vibrant colors, even some were in metallic tones. Why don’t they design cars like that anymore? Car lovers and non-car lovers, it is impossible not to be swooned by these beauties. Most of these cars were once owned by Cuba’s wealthiest families before the revolution, where they were seized when these families fled Cuba and never came back.

Renting a vintage car for a few hours is a must in Havana! We had the chance to rent a red convertible ‘57 Chevy for 2 hours and get an amazing tour of the city’s monuments and historic buildings, and its neighborhoods- Old Havana, Central Havana, Vedado, Miramar and picturesque Parque Almendares. On our day trip to Viñales, we took a bright orange vintage ‘50s Chevy (not recommended for long rides though). Another gorgeous vintage car we took as a taxi in Havana was a 1937 Chevy- felt like we stepped into an old mobster movie!
